Download the Calorie Counting Debunked Info Here:
First of all, thank you for downloading the “Calorie Counting Debunked” infographic!
What you probably DON’T know about this graphic is that it represents one of the biggest pet peeves among trainers today!
For years upon years, we have been trying to convince our clients that counting calories is largely a waste of time. What REALLY matters is the source of the calories.
Yet, even today, with all the science we have laser focused on the nutrition industry, there are very well-known weight loss chains promoting this approach.
(Maybe it just means job security for them…their clients will ALWAYS have to return – because it doesn’t work!)
Look at it this way…
Let's imagine that you and your best friend both decide to follow a 2,000 calorie per day diet.
You construct your 2,000 calorie plan mainly around lean proteins and vegetables, with a sprinkling of fats included.
Your friend, on the other hand, prefers sugar-heavy items and carbohydrate-rich foods like breads, pasta, rice, and crackers, a lineup representative of a typical "Western Diet"...
In this scenario, both of you are consuming the same number of calories...
And both of you are maintaining the same level of physical activity...
The principle of calories in, calories out comes to mind, right?
Well, it's not that straightforward.
Our bodies process proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in unique ways (as you'll see in the accompanying infographic). However, at the end of the day, if calorie intake and expenditure are equal, the weight changes should be relatively the same. Where it gets interesting is in the nutritional content and satiety of these different foods.
So, picture what you and your friend might look like six months from now.
Given the same calorie intake and expenditure, your weights might not differ much. But your bodies could respond differently to the varying nutrients in your diets. For example, you might feel more satiated and energetic on your high-protein, veggie-focused diet, while your friend might experience different effects due to the higher sugar and refined carbohydrate intake.
It's less about proving a theory and more about recognizing that, while calorie quantity is crucial, the quality and source of those calories can influence your overall health and wellbeing.
Oh, if it were all as easy as this…
As a society, we have certainly added a bit of complexity to our food choices. No doubt.
In fact, I have always been amazed at what clients consider a ‘healthy diet’ when I ask them to write it all out or simply describe their typical week of meals.
Navigating all of this can be a nightmare. I see it every day.
This is where I can help…
Have you ever said to yourself, “I wish someone could just tell me what to eat!”
If you had that, it’s very likely you could get to where you want to be.
Lose the unwanted fat and finally NOT have to stress about slowly adding weight over the years…
What if I could design your meals for you, make sure you were doing the correct types of workouts (no matter where you are) AND help you break the habits that got you in a bit of trouble in the first place?
