Through my years of training, several issues have become apparent to me - which seem to be inherent in the current personal training model - and the fitness industry in general. You are probably very aware or have even experienced some of them yourself...
The biggest problem is that the Health and Fitness industry can be a nightmare to navigate (hell, even for the professionals). Every week there seems to be a new study, product, or food that is either supposed to be the holy grail of health and fitness, or the latest thing that will surely cause You a slow and painful death - all backed by some fitness guru, celebrity, or TV doctor (They're MD's, You think You'd be able to trust them, right?). With the pace that new information emerges it makes it downright impossible for your non-health and fitness professional to sort through it all to figure out what is true, what's beneficial, and what's simply B.S.
Another major problem is that the history of fitness and health is filled with hard-ass authoritarian coaches. Taking a page out of the military, these coaches deliver a series of no-pain, no-gain boot-camps where You are given tough love and are taught to pay for Your laziness and dietary transgressions with push-ups, cardio, and burpees. This style of coaching features the coach as: Expert, Drill Sergeant, and Dictator. In this model it’s our job to tell You what to do.
The caveat (aside from a generally unpleasant experience) is that this type of training doesn't account for the fact that You have Your own abilities and reasons for wanting to change. You have Your own limits, beliefs, preferences, backstories, and motivations. The standard approach of putting together a great workout and meal plan and telling You that You need to do this and mold YOUR lifestyle to fit this mold or be a failure instead of creating a plan that works around Your lifestyle has (based on current fitness/obesity stats) been monumentally unsuccessful.
Add to this the fact that your run-of-the-mill personal trainer may not be well enough informed on much aside from building workout programs, that You have to work Your schedule to try to find a time that works for You AND Your trainer, that You have to pay an average of $60+/hour to work with them, and that You only have that narrow window of time with them to get any questions You have answered. This option is designed for those who want to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. Instead of just following plans I give You, You will get nutrition and lifestyle habits to focus on sent to Your email or phone daily, as well as reminders and check-ins to follow up on Your progress. You will also have the ability to message me directly for any questions you may have. This is set up to teach and guide You through what You need to know to live a healthy lifestyle on Your own instead of having to be reliant on other fitness professionals.
This is ideal if You have minimal experience in managing your nutrition or exercise (or have tried and been unsuccessful with an exercise routine/meal plan program), and/or are more focused on learning how to live a healthy lifestyle long-term.
***NOTE: The program is designed to deliver healthy eating and lifestyle habits over the course of a full year. Why a full year? Because the program is about progressively building habits over a longer period of time to promote confidence and long-term sustainability. The curriculum builds an interesting change arc that culminates with some awesome experiences towards the end.
However, if You hit the 3 month (or 6 month, or 9 month) mark and decide that You have learned enough, You can stop following along at that point.
Again, I recommend that You follow the full curriculum to “the end” because it’s designed to move along a specific teaching and discovery arc, sort of like a story, however there’s no harm if You choose not to work all the way through the program.

You will have Your own profile page that will serve as Your home-page while working through the lessons and habits presented to You. It will track Your progress with lessons and let You know where You're at and what You've completed. It will track/save your progress pictures as well as other progress markers such as body weight, body measurements, and personal subjective information (eg: how You feel overall).
Daily Emails
You will receive daily emails containing brief descriptions of what You should be working on and thinking about that day. These emails link to a special homepage where lessons, habits, and assignments are outlined.
Daily Habits
Every 2 weeks You will receive a new habit - something you should focus on practicing every day - to develop a particular nutrition or lifestyle skill. These habits are explained in detail on day one, and every day after we will check in to remind You of Your habit and to see how well you are doing with including it in Your routine.
Daily Lessons and Assignments
To support the daily habits, we send brief lessons in the form of articles, videos, audio files, and/or downloads. We can see Your progress with lessons and assignments, and you can also keep track of what You've done/where Your at in the progress area of Your profile.
Regular Progress Check-In's
Every week or two we will ask You to re-measure Your body weight, girths, photos, and other markers of progress, including subjective ones. These are tracked and can be viewed in the progress area in Your profile.

Who Online Coaching is NOT For:
While online Coaching can offer a lot in regards to value and convenience, what it does lack - literally - is a personal touch. If You are looking to start a fitness routine but have never exercised before or just generally do not have a good sense of exercise technique (and aren't someone who can just watch a video and figure it out), online Coaching may not be a good fit.
Also, if You are someone who REALLY needs someone else to help You be accountable for completing workouts, assigned goals, etc., online coaching may not be a great fit. While we offer options that include setting up daily reminders, check-in's and progress reviews - most of them are akin to an alarm - You can snooze, dismiss, or click OK and still forget (or outright omit) the task/training for the day - so it is up to You to decide what level of support YOU will need in order to be successful in reaching Your goals.
